The IB and RM Results discuss assessment in the digital age at joint event
At a recent event held at the IB Global Centre in Cardiff, organized jointly by RM Results and the IB, peers from across the qualifications and awarding sector came together to discuss the opportunities and challenges for assessment in the future.
The event, 2020 and Beyond: Opportunities and Challenges for Assessment in the Digital Age, held in collaboration with RM Results—a British company providing technology to the education sector—featured a keynote from Professor Sugata Mitra, the 2013 TED Prize winner. Professor Mitra shared with the group some of the preliminary findings of his research and what curricular, pedagogic and assessment changes will be required in the future.
In the second keynote, Dr Stuart Kime, Director of Education, Evidence Based Education outlined the challenges that must be overcome by assessment developers and provides to ensure assessment becomes a meaningful tool for teaching and learning.
The participants also had the opportunity to hear about how the IB introduced international on-screen examinations for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and understand how data and analytics can be used in the future.
