The International Baccalaureate (IB) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing a strategic partnership between the Association of IB World Schools in Pakistan (IBPAK) and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Through this collaboration, LUMS will offer a Career-related Studies (CRS) pathway in Business Studies, providing IB students with access to career-focused learning opportunities connected to one of Pakistan’s leading and most prestigious universities.

The signing ceremony took place on 27 August 2026 and was attended by Heads of IB Career-related Programme (CP) schools in Pakistan and LUMS faculty, marking a meaningful milestone for the growing IB CP community in the country. The MoU was formally signed by Dr Tayyaba Tamim, Dean of Education at LUMS, Dr Shazia Iqbal Khan, Chairperson of IBPAK, and Uzma Shujjat, Regional Manager for the IB.

The partnership is particularly significant given the growing interest in the IB Career-related Programme in Pakistan. Pakistan currently has three authorized IB CP schools, while the programme is also recognized by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) as equivalent to the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC), subject to the prescribed requirements.

The move follows the signing of two initial MoUs in April 2026, with United Medical and Dental College, Karachi (UMDC) for its Medical pathway and Beaconhouse National University, Lahore (BNU) for its Humanities pathway. One key priority for schools in Pakistan has been broadening access to local CRS providers – these Memorandums of Understanding support this effort through direct collaboration, strengthening the CP as a future-focused educational pathway.

The IB has been present in Pakistan since 1996, with 34 authorised schools offering 68 programmes across the country. The IB recognizes the value of building relationships with a wide variety of high quality CRS providers, and is proud to expand learning opportunities through partnerships in Pakistan and around the world.
