The International Baccalaureate (IB) will welcome Atlantic Canada region school leaders, educators, government officials, and the local community during its IB Days events in New Brunswick.

The International Baccalaureate is bringing its IB Day celebrations to Atlantic Canada, hosting a two-day symposium on teaching and learning in Fredericton, New Brunswick on 26 and 27 March, 2024. The event will be celebrated in collaboration with the University of New Brunswick and the Atlantic Canada Association of IB World Schools (AIBWS).

The IB Day events aims to address local education topics around multilingualism, including workshops that centre on the teaching of French, Indigenous, Gaelic, and mother tongue languages. By connecting with local communities to sustain equity and inclusion in Atlantic Canada, IB Days celebrate the transformative benefits of an IB education through student, parent, educator, school leadership teams, and government officials' voices.

Heather Lapper, Development Manager (Canada) at the IB, said, “Providing opportunities to discuss and explore the possibilities and challenges of supporting student achievement and success in Atlantic Canada is a vital first step to fostering collaboration, strengthening educational initiatives, and cultivating a thriving learning community for all. As New Brunswick stands as Canada's sole official bilingual province, IB Days Atlantic Canada in Fredericton presents a remarkable opportunity for Atlantic Canada’s educators and leaders to convene in a bilingual environment to help shape the educational future for the region.”

IB Days are a regional, two-day, face-to-face gathering that serves as a unique platform for IB and non-IB schools to delve into the world of IB education, recognize local and regional IB programmes, exchange innovative ideas, build connections, and contribute to an impactful and advancing globally minded learning community.

The IB continues to work closely with organizations and governments to increase access to high-quality education for all young people across Canada’s provinces. Through inclusive education, the IB ensures equal opportunities regardless of learner background so every student can achieve their full potential.

IB Days Atlantic Canada is a step towards furthering collaboration between the IB and Atlantic Canadian education communities, to help support more future-ready students, and achieve the IB’s goal of building world peace through education.
