The International Baccalaureate (IB) has opened its scholarship process for students seeking to attend the Master of Education (M.Ed) degree at the University of the People (UoPeople).

The IB and the UoPeople have renewed their commitment to expanding access to education by continuing their joint scholarship programme for aspiring educators. The agreement supports students pursuing a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree through UoPeople, an accredited, tuition-free, fully online American university. This programme, originally launched in 2018, reflects both organizations’ shared mission to make high-quality education more accessible to communities around the world.
This year, the application window will be open from 21 April to 16 May 2025 for IB teachers, non-IB teachers, and undergraduate students seeking to pursue their M.Ed through this scholarship programme. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to education, their local community, and the IB mission and pedagogy. These scholarships will help to tackle challenges faced by schools around the globe looking to recruit and retain experienced and knowledgeable teachers.
To date, this programme has awarded more than 400 scholarships to students from around the world, with many living in Africa, Asia and South America. More than 100 educators have earned the M.Ed. under this scholarship programme, the vast majority of whom would not have been able to complete an advanced degree without this financial support.
“This scholarship from the IB is more than just support for my studies, it's a reminder that education has the power to change lives. I'm excited to keep learning, growing, and helping my students discover their own potential to make a difference in the world.” — Jenifer Ambrozini from Brazil, a current student in the M.Ed. programme
“The IB UoPeople M.Ed. scholarship has been a remarkable opportunity for me offering vital support at a time when covering fees posed a challenge for me. It enabled me to pursue my educational aspirations, expand my understanding of inclusive teaching practices, and strengthen my ability to inspire meaningful learning. I am deeply grateful for this empowering journey and the opportunities it has unlocked. It has enhanced my understanding of inclusive education and reinforced my capacity to lead and inspire impactful learning experiences. I am deeply thankful for this empowering journey.” — Chandrani Banerjee from India, a current student in the M.Ed. programme
Together, the IB and UoPeople look to extend offers of 75 scholarships each year through the programme, representing a collaborative effort and commitment to address the global shortage of quality educators worldwide, which in turn guaranteed access to quality education for more students.
Applications for the IB UoPeople Scholarship are open from 21 April to 16 May 2025.
