Held at Eyüboğlu Çamlica Campus in Istanbul, the event featured a broad array of presentations and group sessions, exploring the theme of “Better Together: Balancing Academics and Wellbeing”. Opening speakers included Cenk Eyüboğlu, Chairperson of Eyüboğlu Educational Institutions, and Marco Dondi, the IB’s Deputy Director General.

More than 270 presentations took place across the day’s four sessions, spanning topics from global and digital citizenship to adapting the curriculum to changing technology.

Presentations included “Beyond the Grade: Rethinking Feedback for Sustainable Learning in the DP”, which highlighted how moving beyond grades enabled students to reflect, self-regulate, and take greater ownership of their learning. Elsewhere, “The Development of Global Citizenship Awareness in the Context of the Türkiye in the 20th Century (TITC) Course” showed how inquiry-based learning, Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, and reflective practices helped students develop global citizenship awareness and engage with historical content as active, critical thinkers.

Attendees were also inspired by a panel featuring local alumni of the Diploma Programme (DP), moderated by Dr. Jale Onur.

“Listening to former IB students who are now working as managers in some of Türkiye’s leading institutions was extremely inspiring,” said Ceylan Çalışkan, a TITC teacher studying for the IB Advanced Certificate in Leadership Research (IBACLR). “Hearing how an IB education influenced not only their professional lives but also their personal development and family lives allowed me to see the long-term outcomes of the IB learner profile in a very concrete way.”

The IB has been present in Türkiye since 1994, with 127 IB World Schools now operating in the country. Türkiye was the first country globally to host and organise an IB Day, with its 2025 event championing the IB’s leading role in empowering students to build a more peaceful and connected world.

“It was a unique and highly beneficial opportunity for me to observe the IB’s current priorities, compare theory and practice, and reflect on my own educational philosophy,” said Hüda Ay Demirkaya, of Maltepe University. “I had the chance to come together with IB teachers from all parts of the country and get to know their insightful experiences. I truly believe that this event helped me to begin my following day with a clearer and comprehensive vision of the IB.”
