The International Baccalaureate (IB) is pleased to announce the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) formalising strategic partnerships between the Association of IB World Schools in Pakistan (IBPAK) and career-related studies (CRS) providers. These partnerships will provide students in Pakistan with new pathways for studying the Career-related Programme (CP), representing significant progress for the programme in the country.

IBPAK has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with United Medical and Dental College, Karachi (UMDC) for its Medical pathway, as well as with Beaconhouse National University, Lahore (BNU) for its Humanities pathway.

The partnerships were formalised on 9 April 2026, during a signing ceremony attended by senior representatives from both organisations at the Nishat Hotel in Gulberg, Lahore. Heads of IB World Schools from across Pakistan were also present at the event, reflecting growing interest in the CP.

The IB community has welcomed this milestone as a significant step towards expanding high quality, career-focused pathways for students in Pakistan. One key priority for schools in the country has been broadening access to local CRS providers – these Memorandums of Understanding support this effort through direct collaboration, strengthening the CP as a future-focused educational pathway.

The CP is designed for students aged 16 to 19 years seeking career-related learning opportunities while acquiring transferable skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement. Eligible applicants include students who have completed the Middle Years Programme (MYP) or equivalent qualifications. In Pakistan, the CP is recognised as equivalent to the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC).

The IB has been present in Pakistan since 1996, with 36 authorised schools offering 66 programmes across the country. The IB recognises the value of building relationships with a wide variety of high quality CRS providers, and is proud to expand learning opportunities through partnerships in Pakistan and around the world.
