On 21 April, at the opening session of the IB Virtual Conference for Asia-Pacific, IB Board Chair Dr Helen Drennen welcomed Mr Olli-Pekka Heinonen as the IB’s eighth Director General, while expressing deep gratitude to former Director General Dr Siva Kumari for her many years of service.
Dr Drennen said she and the Board are looking forward to working with Mr Heinonen, who will greatly influence and shape the IB in the coming years.
The Asia-Pacific Virtual Conference welcomed nearly 900 attendees from 44 countries and centred on the theme of Unlocking the next paradigm in education. The next IB Virtual Conference, focusing on the Americas, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, will take place from 18–22 October 2021.
