Today, more than 95,410 MYP students from around the world receive their eAssessment (e-Portfolios and on-screen examinations), and personal project results from the May 2023 examination session.
1,049 IB World Schools in 114 countries submitted students' personal projects. A truly personal and creative piece of work based on an area of personal interest, the mandatory personal project is a culminating MYP project that all students develop in their final year of the programme.
Olli-Pekka Heinonen, Director General at the IB said: “I would like to congratulate all our MYP students for their tremendous and continued efforts over the year and during the examination period. Also, I would like to express my appreciation for the dedication and perseverance exhibited by our global community of educators, teachers and IB World Schools, and the consistent support and guidance you offer to our students in completing their personal projects and ePortfolio subjects, as well as ensuring the administration of on-screen exams.”
Schools have the option to register for the MYP eAssessment which includes ePortfolios of coursework and on-screen examinations. For the May 2023 examination session, over 270 IB World Schools in 72 countries participated in the optional MYP eAssessment, representing a 10.78% increase in registrations. Students who registered for the full MYP certificate received an average score of 37.56 points (of 56 possible maximum).
The MYP eAssessment aims to challenge students to think critically and independently while solving real-world problems using a broad range of knowledge. The on-screen examinations are unique because as well as being technologically innovative students also use authentic assessment approaches to demonstrate conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge in complex, unfamiliar contexts, including the use of global contexts. The MYP builds on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed by the Primary Years Programme (PYP). It also prepares students for the Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) by reflecting the depth, breadth and balance that characterizes all IB programmes, ensuring a smooth transition for students who continue their education within the IB continuum.
