The challenges the global education sector have experienced over recent years has highlighted the need for organizations to work together to develop innovations that can improve access to learning during this time of complexity, uncertainty, and unprecedented change.
The IB is keen to be a part of this exploration, focussing not only on the technological aspects of online learning but, most importantly, the pedagogical solutions.
As you know, we continue to work closely with Pamoja Education to ensure that IB schools have access to a broad range of online Diploma Programme courses. However, until now it has not been possible for students to do the entire Diploma Programme online.
We are therefore pleased to announce the launch of the online Diploma Programme pilot. We are seeking a limited number of partners, including IB schools, to pilot a fully online Diploma Programme. Together, we will explore how we can create and reinforce collaborative learning communities. In this exploration, we will be discovering the advantages that a completely/fully online Diploma Programme can bring to our community.
Core to the IB’s mission and strategy is to provide opportunities to enable more students, and more diverse cohorts of students, the chance to engage with IB education programmes.
Through the pilots the IB would like to better understand the needs of students who may not be able to attend traditional brick and mortar education, perhaps due to illness, commitments to extra-curricular activities such as sport and music, or migration and displacement.
These pilots will work alongside and inform the IB Strategy as we collaboratively innovate with our global community to empower IB students to take ownership of their own learning and develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a fast-changing world.
If you are interested in partnering with the IB for a limited pilot, please send a message to [email protected] to receive additional information on pilot requirements and criteria. Please note there are limited spots available for the first phase of this pilot.
We will continue to share the learnings from these pilots with our community.
