Why did you choose the IB Diploma Programme (DP)?
As a student, I was full of curiosity and always loved to pose “what-if” questions in every situation. The holistic nature of the IB Diploma Programme (DP) along with its perspective-driven approach to learning motivated me to pursue it. This decision was reaffirmed after I obtained a full scholarship to study the DP at Aditya Birla World Academy. I am grateful that it has helped empower me with a strong decision-making compass and helped shape me into a lifelong learner and a globally competent individual.
What aspect of your education inspired you most?
I was blessed to have an excellent set of teachers throughout my two years in the DP. Each of my teachers put in endless hours to help me and my peers develop by constantly challenging us to do better both academically and professionally. Interestingly, Theory of Knowledge (TOK) was the one component where all our teachers contributed to make our learning as diverse and multi-dimensional as possible. Thus, I personally feel TOK as a course was one of my biggest inspirations to never take the known for known without knowing the unknown. In the beginning, everything in the TOK class seemed like a big question mark, but till today, the learnings help me dissect problems objectively, think critically and put forth structured views. The Diploma Programme has left a lasting impact on my personality and helped me build my identity while holding on to values such as integrity, empathy and compassion.
How did you reach where you are today?
After graduating from the DP, I pursued a Bachelor’s in Management degree, majoring in Finance from H.R. College, Mumbai, India. Along with my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to pursue my passion for research and women empowerment, as I undertook a research project with a start-up to understand the gender-diversity gaps in workplaces in India. I then went on to pursue a Master's in Management degree from London Business School. I currently work as a public sector consultant at BDO (an advisory firm) where I mainly focus on helping the government solve some of the most pressing issues related to sustainability and technology.
