David Walker first became involved in the International Baccalaureate® (IB) through his children, who completed the PYP, MYP and DP IB programmes.

He strongly believes that global education can create a more prosperous and peaceful world, and that the IB can create the next generation of leaders to achieve these goals.

David has more than 30 years’ professional experience advising on strategy, acquisitions and investment opportunities in a range of industry sectors worldwide. He has worked for global companies and built a strong network of business relationships in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North and South America. He has strong financial, problem-solving and inter-personal skills, across cultures.

In 2010, he founded Kauri Capital, an independent firm that offers advisory services to forest products and energy companies, owners, investors and financiers.

Prior to founding Kauri Capital he was a Managing Director of Macquarie Capital (2007–2010), a leading investment banking organisation, and worked for 18 years with the Pöyry Group (1989–2007) as head of Global Consulting and as President of the Asia-Pacific business.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration with Honours (BCA (Hons)) from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He has lived since 1996 in Singapore and from 1985-1996 in Finland.
