Selina Bannayan completed the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at the Amman Baccalaureate School, Jordan. She is continuing her studies in the IB Diploma Programme (DP).
Why did you choose the MYP?
I chose the MYP because I figured it’s a great system for me to enhance my learning and for me as an individual. I heard about it because of my parents and my brother. My brother was already enrolled in the MYP when I was in school, so I just figured that of course I would be in the MYP.
“it helps you discover who you are as a person and what you like to do.”
What did you like most or what was most memorable about the programme?
The thing I love most about doing the MYP is that everyone in the school has a voice and it’s always heard … it’s free for you to do all sorts of activities and all sorts of subjects and the education is great. It’s a really good programme for young students to grow.
My most memorable experience from doing the MYP is meeting new people, having new friends and of course learning new things every single day in all of my subjects. And just having a great time throughout, even though there’s a lot of school work and exams, but that doesn’t matter because it’s a good time overall.
What was your favorite MYP subject?
My favorite subject is the English language because I get to be free on what I write about and what I want to experience and what I have experienced. I learn new things almost every single day. It has enhanced my reading, my writing and my language when I talk to other people too.
Would you recommend the programme to other students? Why?
I would recommend the programme to another student because it helps you discover who you are as a person and what you like to do. Of course you also meet new people along the way throughout all of it. It helps you remember all of the things you took back then and you apply it in your life and throughout the DP and university.
