Prkriti Tandon – Doha, Qatar

Last updated:

Prkriti Tandon completed the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at the Qatar Academy – Doha and continues her studies with the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

Prkriti TandonWhat key skills did you develop during the MYP?

One of the skills that I developed from the personal project and MYP itself was of time management and prioritizing. Alongside MYP, I partook in numerous other activities that also required time and energy and throughout the two years, I had to ensure that I was striking a good and healthy balance between MYP, work life, and social life.

What was the focus of your MYP personal project?

My personal project focused on the use of hydroponics and their use in Qatar. My topic choice was motivated by my brief pre-existing knowledge and interest in plants as well as the recent blockade in Qatar.

“I was capable of far more rigorous studies than I thought myself to be capable of and [the MYP] gave me the confidence I needed to grow.”

How has the MYP contributed to your Diploma Programme (DP) experience?

Even though I've only been in the DP for a few months, time management and prioritizing have still benefitted me greatly. Although the MYP and the DP are very different, the command terms I picked up in the MYP have also significantly helped me in my DP journey so far.

The whole experience of the personal project, e-assessments, and e-portfolios, though extremely stressful, taught me that I was capable of far more rigorous studies than I thought myself to be capable of and gave me the confidence I needed to grow.
