Overall, the growing appeal of the IB’s educational approach continues to be reflected in the key performance indicators (KPIs) for this financial year, driven by the increasing relevance of the IB’s pedagogical philosophy and practice.

Despite the COVID-19 epidemic, global growth in the number of programmes continued across all four IB programmes.

Number of Diploma Programme candidates

Candidate numbers for the Diploma Programme (DP) rose significantly to a total of 105,921.

The numbers of DP courses taken also increased to 758,822.

In sum, the growth of the IB’s global community is matched by the excellent standards of our Global World Schools in teaching their growing cohorts of IB students, and to the quality of our support for schools, teachers, examiners and students.
