The first IB World School in Texas was Bellaire High School in Houston, authorized in 1979. Since then, the IB has expanded significantly, with over 188 IB World Schools in Texas offering 234 programmes as of 2024. Today, Texas universities—including the University of Texas and Texas A&M—recognize the IB Diploma for college credit.

How does Texas recognize the IB?
Texas has several policies that recognize the IB as an advanced coursework programme. The state provides grants and provisions to schools, educators and students to have access to the IB.
