If you have concerns about the quality of teaching or other services delivered by an IB World School, contact the school programme coordinator directly in the first instance.
Schools hold direct relationships with students and their families and are responsible for the implementation of the IB programmes they are authorized to offer. This means that the IB is unable to consider complaints about many services delivered by schools, including:
- admissions
- fees
- premises and facilities
- rules and policies
- teacher performance or quality
- student support.
All IB World Schools are expected to operate in accordance with local laws and regulations and to make parents aware of their internal complaints procedures. School staff will need to raise concerns through the school’s employee procedures.
We also expect schools to provide information about the IB’s requirements, including its teaching requirements and assessment procedures to parents.
If you wish to provide feedback about a school, after you have raised your concerns through its complaints procedure, follow these steps.
The IB complaints procedure enables direct use of IB services to raise concerns with us. Direct users include:
- schools and their staff
- IB Educator Network members
- graduates who order certificates and transcripts from the IB
- and IB workshop participants.
Separate procedures apply to requests to review assessment decisions.

Results and assessment decisions
Under our formal relationships with schools, we agree that they will always communicate directly with their candidates about the administration of exams, other IB assessment and results.
If you are unhappy with your results or feel that they are incorrect, your teacher or exams officer will be able to clearly explain the options available and can contact us on your behalf. Please be aware that concerns about results will only be considered when they are submitted as an Enquiry about Results request through the formal process that our schools can access.
