Universities

Last updated:

IB programmes enjoy a high level of respect and recognition among the world’s higher education institutions.

In particular, the Diploma Programme (DP) is accepted and highly regarded by universities globally. The IB works closely with the higher education community and university admissions services to ensure IB students continue to receive the recognition they have earned, as well as to examine and further develop our programmes to ensure they consistently offer the best preparation for university studies and life beyond.

A significant study on higher education outcomes in the UK, comparing DP and A Level students' outcomes in higher education, clearly demonstrates that DP students make excellent progress at university.

The IB team supports universities and higher education institutions in clarifying the admittance policies for IB students. Read our guidance on developing a policy and how to share it with us.
