IB World Student Conferences
The IB World Student Conferences brought together IB Diploma Programme (DP) and IB Career-Related Programme (CP) students from around the world to explore and experience what it means to be globally engaged, and to inspire responsible action for making a better and more peaceful world.
The IB World Student Conferences (IBWSC) ran from 2012- 2018 and brought together IB Diploma Programme (DP) and IB Career-Related Programme (CP) students from around the world to explore and experience what it means to be globally engaged, and to inspire responsible action for creating a better and more peaceful world.
The IBWSC challenged students to work collaboratively to find ways to address some our world’s greatest issues, such as water scarcity, poverty, and universal access to education. Each year hundreds of students from around the world came together on a university campus to network and share ideas. In 2018, IBWSCs were held in Washington DC, Rotterdam, and Hong Kong and were instrumental in supporting our 50th anniversary campaign, #generationIB, in which students across all programmes demonstrated their skills and creativity as IB learners to design projects addressing five core themes. The IBWSC truly embodied the spirit of the IB by inspiring learners and stimulating critical thinking.
2018 was the final year for the IBWSCs, but it will continue to live on through our students. Over the past five years, students have brought back ideas to their schools and honed their leadership skills to implement complex projects and affect positive change – big or small – in their local communities. We would like to thank all the staff, educators, and most importantly students, who have been involved with the IBWSC. All queries related to IBWSC can be directed towards IB Answers.
