Alternative authentication
Alternative authentication offers you a way of using secure authentication if you do not wish to use a QR code. There are a variety of ways in which you can do this.
If you do not wish to use a QR code as an authentication method, click “Start” on the PingID welcome page, then choose your preferred method from the list along the bottom of the next page.
SMS Authentication
After you choose to authenticate via SMS, select your country’s flag and type your mobile phone number into the box.
You'll then receive a confirmation text message with a personal authentication code.
After receiving the text message, type the authentication code into the verification box on your desktop. You'll then see a message that confirms successful authentication.
Voice call authentication
After choosing to authenticate via voice call, select your country’s flag and type your mobile phone number into the box.
You will receive a phone call with an automated message telling you your personal authentication code. Enter your code into the verification box, and click “Verify”.
You'll then see a message that confirms successful authentication.
Email authentication
After you choose to authenticate via email, enter your email address.
You will receive an email containing your personal authentication code, which you must then enter into the box on your desktop web browser. Next click ‘Verify’.
You'll then see a message that confirms successful authentication.
Desktop application authentication
After choosing to authenticate using the desktop application, you will see your pairing key.
Enter your pairing key into the box on your desktop application.
Create a new pin, and re-enter it into the application.
Enter the code displayed in the application into the authentication web page.
You'll then see a message that confirms successful authentication.
YubiKey Authentication
After choosing to authenticate via YubiKey, insert the YubiKey and touch the logo.
You'll then see a message that confirms successful authentication.
