The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Americas supports over 3,000 IB World Schools in more than 30 countries across North, Central and South America.
It is one of three regional offices within the IB, based in the IB’s Global Centre in Washington DC, US.
Through the regional office, the IB supports schools that wish to become authorized to deliver our programmes of education. The regional office also evaluates existing IB World Schools and provides professional development, such as events and workshops, in addition to other services.
In the Americas, the Global Centre serves a broad and diverse range of students in public, private, independent and international school settings.
Professional development workshops
Through our events and workshops, educators can share best practice and network with colleagues across the region. The IB provides face-to-face and online workshops, webinars, blended learning and e-learning resources.
Find a workshop in the Americas. Our professional development is suitable for educators with a range of needs and expertise.
The IB also hosts in-school workshops, and district workshops for schools and districts implementing IB programmes.
Once per year IB Americas brings together educational professionals, from across the region, at the Conference of the Americas.
Our four programmes of education
The IB has four programmes:
the Primary Years Programme (PYP), for students aged 3-12
the Middle Years Programme (MYP), for students aged 11-16
the Diploma Programme (DP), for students aged 16-19

Information for parents
We've created a parent pack to help answer questions parents commonly have about the IB's programmes, and about making the most of a student's IB education in university applications.
The pack also explains the relationship between the IB and the Common Core State Standards.
