Breakout sessions

Are you interested in presenting a breakout session at the IB Global Conference, New Orleans 2025? If so, submit a proposal to the IB Review Committee.

Session proposals should fall under one of the following strands that reflect important, broad trends in education that are both specific to the IB and relevant to non-IB schools and contexts.

Educational technology and innovation

Combining technological tools and resources with educational practice to facilitate learning.

  • Sessions may include technologies for hybrid learning environments, emerging software and hardware for educational purposes, cutting-edge research in education, and the role of technology in addressing global issues.

Inclusive education and well-being

A whole-school approach to education that promotes inclusion, equitable quality education and access for all students. This strand also includes the skills and competencies needed to thrive in an interconnected world.

  • Sessions may include topics that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, gender equality, as well as wellness, emotional intelligence and resilience.

Learning and teaching

Competencies and strategies needed to facilitate lifelong learning.

Sessions include all four IB programmes’ frameworks (PYP, MYP, DP, CP) as well as non-IB curriculums, and may cover an array of topics (for example agency, assessment, 21st century skills).

Leadership

Advanced content for education leaders.

  • Sessions may include topics on governance, building partnerships, creating school culture, climate and thought leadership, and plans and policies for sustainable education.

 

The deadline for submitting a proposal is Sunday, 19 January 2025. We cannot consider submissions received after the deadline Please note that the submission process is highly competitive, and we can only accept a limited number of proposals. The IB Review Committee will review all proposals and notify you no later than Friday, 31 January 2025.

 

Presentation requirements

  • Delivered in English, Spanish or French
  • 75 minutes long, including time for interaction and discussion
  • Focus on professional development
  • Cannot promote commercial purposes

Additional information

  • All presenters and co-presenters must register for the conference by Sunday, 9 March 2025
  • As a presenter, you will enjoy the discounted fee of 1093 USD for the main conference or 1220 USD for the main conference (including pre-conference). This discount cannot be combined with other discounts.
  • Individuals may not submit or appear on more than two proposals, either as primary or secondary presenters.
  • The same school or institution may not appear on more than two proposals.

Terms and conditions

  • All presenters must be available to present any time during the Global Conference (excluding pre-conference workshops).
  • All presenters must comply with the timelines and deadlines shared by the IB upon session confirmation to ensure the successful delivery of their session.
  • The layout of meeting rooms will vary. Stationery will be provided. Additional information on room specifications will be provided upon approval of the session presentation. The rooms will range from a capacity of 50 to 300. The Global Conferences team will assign rooms based on their experience of previous conferences and session popularity.
  • The IB will not reimburse any expenses.

IB Community Contributions

Share your creativity and inspire our community of educators at the IB Global Conference, New Orleans 2025!

We invite IB World School students and alumni to showcase performances, poster presentations and artworks, in different dedicated spaces at the conference. These include, but are not limited to, community-service projects, dance, music, film, animations, poetry and the visual arts.

Student performances

Every IB School has a pool of talented students, alumni, and educators, that we are sure would love to have the unique opportunity to be part of the IB Global Conference, New Orleans 2025. Should your school have passionate musicians, singers, or dancers we are looking for student performances to showcase their talent during the general sessions. Selected students will be given the stage of the general session for up to 8 minutes and perform in front of an audience of around 1,700 Heads of School, Coordinators, Teachers, Sponsors, Exhibitors, and Industry experts.

Please note that the maximum number of performers allowed on stage simultaneously is 12.

Poster presentations

IB World Schools in the Americas (AM) region are invited to participate in the poster presentation showcase to contribute to the collaborative exchange of ideas and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the IB community. Posters provide IB World Schools with a platform to highlight impactful sustainability initiatives in a visually engaging format. These posters will be displayed throughout the conference, offering participants insight into diverse and inspiring sustainability projects led by schools, educators, students, and communities. We invite IB World Schools to share their initiatives—from environmental programmes and green campus projects to community outreach and student-led sustainability campaigns. This is an opportunity to celebrate your school’s contributions to a sustainable future and foster meaningful discussions on sustainability.

Visual art

This is a great opportunity for schools to gain exposure through creative art displays created by students. These include, but are not limited to, visual arts, paintings, sculptures. Selected artworks will be displayed at the venue in dedicated spaces for educators to admire the artistic talent of IB Students. These include, but are not limited to, visual arts, paintings, sculptures and project poster presentation will be displayed in dedicated areas, allowing schools, teachers, and students to share their creativity with conference attendees.
