IB Educator Certificate University Conference 2020

Leading the learning: Developing international education professionals

The International Baccalaureate and The University of Melbourne will host the 2020 IB Educator Certificate (IBEC) University Conference. This conference, with its theme of Leading the learning: Developing international education professionals, is designed to bring together a worldwide community of education professionals to share research and delve deeply into what it means to prepare teachers to teach and lead in international education settings.

  • What are the values that are required to create a learning and teaching environment that is multi-faceted and complex?
  • How can teacher education programs help educators “capture a way of thinking, being and acting that is characterized by an openness to the world and a recognition of our deep interconnectedness to others.”
  • What happens when educators learn to offer students chances to do sustained inquiry into a range of local and global issues and ideas?
  • What happens when we empower everyone to be leaders of learning?
  • How does international education help students reflect on their own perspective, culture and identities, and then on those of others?
  • How do current teacher education programs instill these values and skills in pre-service and in-service teachers and leaders to help them move beyond awareness and understanding to engagement, action and ultimately meaningful change?

Prepare to present your research and practice with colleagues from around the globe to unpack these and other questions.
