This event will open with a special plenary session by Donnah Ellen Ciempka
Knowing your students and helping develop a true image of the child is an essential component of all teaching and learning. There are many significant aspects to truly knowing your students. By applying Urie Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory as inspiration and a data gathering tool, educators are able to develop a deeper and more authentic understanding of the factors that shape the image of the child.
Donnah is an experienced educator having taught in Korea, China and in Australia across both public and independent settings. She has been an International Baccalaureate Educator since 2008 and has lead workshops and school visits for the International Baccalaureate all over the world. Donnah also has extensive curriculum leadership experience in many educational settings. Pedagogy design and implementation is also an area of passion for her, having written and developed many workshops, webinars and has collaborated on a number of curriculum projects. Early Childhood education has always been an area of specific interest for her. She has taught in this area for most of her career and is an advocate of ensuring a child-centred approach for all learning.
