The International Baccalaureate (IB) Virtual Conference, Asia-Pacific is designed for IB educators to experience a sense of community, gain additional insight into the IB and implement relevant content within their work.

 

The virtual gathering will include the following.

Pre-conference workshops 

Three-hour long workshops held on Saturday 17 April 2021 (before the main conference). These workshops are designed for educators seeking to enhance their professional and leadership skills. Each workshop provides attendees with the necessary skills to be successful leaders during this time of uncertainty and change in education. 

Keynote speakers 

The speaker will give “big picture” presentations around the conference theme, Unlocking the next paradigm, and topics related to education. These opening talks set the tone of the conference and provide fresh perspectives by sparking thinking and inspiring action.  

Topic experts 

Session will be delivered by subject matter experts on topics that impact the IB community. These include.

  • Best practices for remote learning
  • Diversity and inclusion and culturally responsive teaching
  • Future of education post-COVID-19
  • Social-emotional learning
  • Supporting vulnerable students
  • Wellness and well-being for students and teachers. 

Coordinator forum  

An opportunity for new and experienced coordinators to collaborate with authorization staff and IB World Schools staff and fellow coordinators. These forums will focus on the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme/Career-related Programme. The new coordinator forum is meant for educators with fewer than three years of experience and focuses on supporting coordinators at this stage in their careers. 

IB staff sessions 

Presentations on important IB messaging, including programme updates and other staff presentations relevant to serving the needs of schools. 

Breakout sessions 

There will be over 40 live and on-demand sessions during the virtual conference, covering a wide range of the most relevant topics for IB educators and the larger global community today. Sessions will focus on new approaches to teaching and learning, professional applications, scholarly analyses, best practices, and case studies.
