IB World Schools Yearbook 2006

The IB World Schools Yearbook is the official guide to schools offering the Diploma, Middle Years and Primary Years Programmes. The 2006 Yearbook will be published on 1 March. All schools that have opted to take out paid profiles in the Yearbook will receive their free copy of the publication as soon as possible after this time. Order copies of the 2006 Yearbook here.

New publishing for the Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate and Oxford University Press are delighted to announce the launch of a new publishing agreement. The aim is to prepare high quality supplementary resources for IB Diploma Programme students.

A new series of Course Companions for Diploma Programme students is being developed and the first titles, Economics, Mathematical Studies and Theory of Knowledge (please note that the author team for this publication does not include the deputy and chief examiners as recently advertised, but rather one of the chief assessors), will be available from late 2006/early 2007. These Course Companions are designed to support students through IB Diploma Programme subjects with advice and guidance on the syllabus and assessment requirements.

Each Course Companion will focus strongly on the IB learner profile (a set of learning outcomes which define the type of learner the IB hopes to develop through its programmes) and internationalism, and the IB Theory of Knowledge requirement will be addressed throughout.

Our author teams include experienced IB Diploma Programme teachers and examiners to ensure that the content is relevant and pitched at the right level. Specialist Theory of Knowledge and internationalism consultants will also be part of the team. Examples and case studies will be drawn from the widest possible international base to ensure they are applicable to all regions.

Test and monitor student progress with IB Questionbank—the perfect classroom tool for IB Diploma Programme teachers and coordinators. IB Questionbank is a series of CD-Roms specifically targeted to the IB Diploma Programme allowing the user to create customized tests and examinations in minutes. These CD-Roms have been developed in consultation with IB examiners and teachers. IB Questionbank CD-Roms in the key Diploma Programme subjects of mathematics (HL, SL and mathematical studies combined), biology, chemistry and physics will go on sale February/March 2006 priced at £65 for all subjects apart from mathematics which is £95.

Merchandise agreements

The IB has recently developed licensing agreements with two major graduation gift suppliers – Herff-Jones and Jostens – enabling them to produce a number of IB World School branded products including rings and medallions. Please contact Jostens or Herff-Jones for further information.
