Chart 1.1 Proportion of IB Applicants and Applications by Domicile

It can be seen from the table and chart that the majority of IB applicants through UCAS were domiciled overseas. UK domiciled IB applicants only accounted for a quarter of IB applicants and applications.
The success of IB applications in terms of offers received can be seen in Table 1.2 below.

This indicates that applications from applicants domiciled outside the EU were most likely to receive offers and those Non-UK EU domiciled applicants were the least likely to receive offers.
Table 1.3 shows the number of IB applicants whose applications resulted in them achieving an acceptance at a UK HEI.

3,252 IB applicants (70.7%) successfully achieved a place at a UK HEI. UK domiciled IB applicants had the most success with 85.2% of applicants achieving an accepted place (having satisfied any conditions specified by institution and committed to taking up the place). Non EU applicants had the least success with only 61.0% of applicants achieving an accepted place. This may be as a result of deciding to take up an offer of a HE place in another country. EU applicants accounted for the greatest proportion of accepted applicants (1,239: 38.1%) with UK applicants receiving 30.6% and Non EU achieving 31.3%.
