Middle Years Programme
MYP Workshops
In mid and late April, 280 teachers attended thirteen MYP regional workshops in German European School Singapore and Guangdong Country Garden School (China). These events clearly represent the IB spirit of internationalism with workshops in both English and Mandarin. Workshop leaders and participants are MYP practitioners from schools around this region and beyond. It was a fruitful time for all as reflected by the positive feedback we received.
Applications to join the Middle Years Programme Committee
Another vacancy has arisen for an MYP practitioner to represent the Asia Pacific region on the Middle Years Programme Committee. This committee will meet in Cardiff in February/March. Airfares and expenses for members of the committee are met by the IB. The MYP committee consists of IB staff and school representatives from the four regions of the IB. The MYP committee currently meets once a year face to face in Cardiff, UK, but will meet twice a year from 2008. Issues that need to be addressed between meetings are discussed via e-mail, teleconferences and such like.
We are seeking expressions of interest or nominations from Heads of school, Administrators and MYP Coordinators in this region who would be willing to serve on this committee from January 2008. Please submit expressions of interest (with a brief resume) directly to ibap@ibo.org by 10 June. The representative will ideally be someone who has had some experience as an MYP subject teacher and/or as a MYP Programme Coordinator. Experience as a workshop leader, moderator and/or visiting team member is an advantage. Please do not hesitate to contact the regional office if you have any further questions about the work of this committee.
