IB Latin America staff
Farewells
Luciana Durante, who started working as credit control officer in February 2007, is no longer a member of the regional office staff. Luciana continues her professional development in an international company in Buenos Aires.
Agustin Onsari, who started collaborating with us in February 2006 as PYP associate head, has left his position to work at St. Francis College, in São Paulo, Brazil. Even though we regret his leaving, we are sure he will remain close to the IB “working in pursuit of an education which seeks human beings comprehensive development”.
Getting to know each other
| This time, we interviewed Camila Salvador, who has been working as travel agent since January 2008. Many of you may know her as she is the one in charge of handling air tickets and hotel reservations and coordinating ground transportation for leaders. |

Which place would you like to visit?
I would really like to visit Lebanon, as my grandfather’s family was from a little village located at the north of Tripoli, a city which many years ago belonged to Syria. I would also like to visit Egypt, Turkey and Greece.
Who do you admire? Why?
I deeply admire my parents, as they are two very important people in my life. What I specially value is all I have learnt from them: the things I consider good or I would like to repeat, and also those things I don’t necessarily like. I think they are two great persons who have always guided me; I always come back to them when I have to make some decisions and when I need to reaffirm or reconsider my own decisions.
Is it true that you love songs and that you can listen to the same song 45 times a day? Which were the last songs you heard?
Yes, it is true. Unluckily for those who sit near me at the office, I can listen to the same song several times in a row without getting tired of it..
I just stop listening to it when the others get tired and ask me to stop!
The last ones were Sea of Love by Cat Power, Piazza, New York Catcher by Belle & Sebastian, Say Yes by Elliott Smith, Casimir Pulaski Day by Sufjan Stevens and These Days by Nico.
You are famous at the office for your repertoire of sayings. Could you mention the ones you use more frequently?
I love phrases, proverbs, sayings, and the like.
The ones I often use at the office are:
“People don’t do anything for nothing”, when I don’t think something has happened just because.
“If you don’t have the brains, no amount of studying will make you intelligent.”
“Keep well out of something.”
I also like the following:
“Discretion is the best part of valor.”
“Everyone gets their dessert sooner or later.”
“You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.”
What do you do after your working hours?
I study Psychology at the University of Buenos Aires. I am very interested in psychoanalysis, that's why I have chosen that course of studies.
Besides, I love reading, going to the cinema and theatre, listening to music and gathering with my friends at weekends.
I also enjoy eating out, going to stadiums to watch football matches or watching them on television.
But if I am attending university, what I do most is studying!
