Director, IB Americas
Drew Deutsch joined the IB in April 2008 as the Regional Director for IB North America. On 1 January 2009, Drew was appointed as Director of the IB in the Americas.
Born and educated in the United States, Drew graduated from Georgetown University in 1992 with a bachelor of arts in psychology and received his IB diploma in 1988 from the United Nations International School in New York City, NY, USA.
Prior to joining the IB, Drew had over 15 years of experience in the education services industry with The Princeton Review. He served in a wide range of roles across the company’s K-12 Services and Test Preparation divisions, most recently as Vice President of Account Management and Operations. In this position, Drew led a large team of educators and support staff that provided high-quality interim assessment and intervention programs to school districts across the United States. Drew also served as Vice President of Technology and Online Learning for The Princeton Review’s Test Prep Division, where he was responsible for launching the company’s Online Learning Division in 2000. During his career, Drew has developed strong relationships with educators and school districts across the Americas and conducted professional development seminars on topics such as the college admissions process and improving student achievement. Head of Regional Development
An IB employee since 1988, Paul has served numerous roles for the IB, most recently as the Head of Outreach and Volunteer Services at IB North America. In his current role as Head of Regional Development for IB Americas, he oversees the region’s work with interested schools, universities, governments, school districts, educational organizations, and associations of IB World Schools. He also oversees the Conference of the Americas.
Paul was educated at the University of Michigan, where he studied journalism and history. Prior to working for the IB, Paul was a staff writer and columnist for several daily newspapers in northern New Jersey, USA. He also worked for two large non-profit organizations, expediting cultural exchanges between lay people from the USA and the former Soviet Union. He now lives in Washington, DC, USA with his wife, Wendy, who is an archeologist and an expert in historic preservation, and with their daughter, Sarah.
Head of Professional Development
Margot has nearly 20 years of experience in program development, education and non-profit leadership, as well as a deep commitment to education and training. Most recently, Margot served as the Vice President of Outreach and Education with the United Nations World Food Program—United States (WFP-USA). Prior to her time with WFP-USA, Margot lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, and worked with the Centre for Strategic and International Studies to assist in rebuilding the education infrastructure in the tsunami-destroyed region of the Aceh province. In addition, Margot worked as a teacher at The Woodlynde School outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA for nearly ten years. During this time, Margot developed and taught a K-12 music curriculum, a seventh and eighth French curriculum, and established strategic partnerships with Philadelphia's creative arts community to create learning and working opportunities for her students.
Margot received a bachelor’s degree in education and music composition from Bennington College in Vermont, USA and a master’s in public administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
Margot grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey, USA and Toronto, Ontario, Canada and currently lives in the LeDroit Park neighborhood of Washington, DC, USA where, in 2008, she was elected to serve as ANC commissioner, working with Mayor Adrian Fenty and the DC City Council to improve public policy for a neighborhood in transition. Margot is an avid traveler with a specific interest in the developing world, is working on restoring her 100-year old house, and has always had a passion for empowering others to have an impact.
Communications and Marketing Manager
Robin Khan joined the IB in April 2012. She began her career working for the Miyazaki Prefectural government in Japan in the international affairs section and went on to work for NHK, Japan Broadcasting in media relations for the Atlanta Olympic Games. She continued her career with MCI WorldCom as Corporate Communication Manager for Asia-Pacific, where she helped transform the company's brand from a traditional telephony company to a global Internet service provider.
While living in Malaysia, Robin honed her communications and writing skills as editor of a family resource magazine, Bonda. She also worked on the Foundation Board of the Benjamin Franklin International School in Barcelona, Spain, an IB World School. Robin received her bachelor of arts in English from Tulane University and a master's degree in east Asian studies from the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. Robin and her family have lived on three continents in the course of their travels and she is a firm believer in Mark’s Twain’s opinion that “travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” In addition to her other qualifications, Robin is a certified high school English and TESOL teacher.
Marta Mazurkiewicz was born in Poland, and has studied at Polish, German, and French universities. Marta received her MBA jointly from École Supérieure de Commerce de Montpellier in France and European University Viadrina in Germany. She also holds a law degree from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland and is a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia, USA.
Marta began her career working for Genesys Conferencing, a global telecommunications company, while studying in France, and later transferred to their US headquarters in Virginia. In 2008, Marta accepted a position with KPMG’s German office, where she worked on corporate mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings. She later worked as interim Finance Manager for Sanofi-Aventis, an international pharmaceutical firm.
Marta brings a vast knowledge of financial planning & analysis, business development, financial reporting, and implementation of internal controls to the International Baccalaureate. She is fluent in Polish, German, English, and French, and is now studying Spanish.
Although European by birth, Marta considers Washington, D.C. to be her home. She is active in a variety of local cultural activities, including opera, classical music, ballet, modern dance, and theater. She is an avid biker and enjoys the vast bike trails of Rock Creek Park.
Senior Head of School Services
Gloria holds a bachelor of arts in economics from Grove City College in the US state of Pennsylvania. After graduating, she returned to Argentina-her home country-to teach Diploma Programme economics and business and management at St. Andrew's Scots School and Northlands School, both IB World Schools in the province of Buenos Aires. At Northlands, she served as head of school, as well as academic coordinator. For many years, Gloria also acted as deputy chief examiner, examiner, and workshop leader for IB business and management.
Gloria holds a teaching degree in philosophy, psychology and pedagogy from the Argentine teacher training school, Dra. Alicia Moreau de Justo, and a master’s degree in management of non-governmental organizations from Torcuato Di Tella University, the University of San Andrés (UDESA) and the Centro de Estudios de Estado y Sociedad (CEDES).
A firm believer that education is the best way to make the world a more peaceful place, Gloria has devoted her career to education and seeks to bring the benefits of the IB programmes to a growing number of students and schools.
Head of Human Resources
Allison Morley joined the International Baccalaureate in April 2012 as the Head of Human Resources, Americas and Schools Division.
Born and raised in the United States of America, Allison began her university studies in Denver, Colorado, USA before moving to Wellington, New Zealand and completing her degree at Victoria University. In 2000, she graduated with a master of science in industrial psychology. In 2012, she passed her US-based SHRM qualifications and is recognized as a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Prior to joining the IB, Allison had over 10 years experience in the Human Resources industry in predominately the telecommunications sector. She has worked in public sector, private sector and for small consulting firms, as well as large corporate HR teams.
Allison specialized in talent management early in her career and has held generalist senior HR business partner roles for the last five years. She has looked after senior management and employees across New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Malaysia and several European countries. Allison has also worked on large global projects (Change Management, Succession Planning, Employee Engagement, Outsourcing) representing New Zealand and Australia.
After several years living overseas, Allison and her family have moved back to the United States. Allison brings to the IB solid international HR experience, strong relationship management skills with both leaders and staff and a wide range of experience in all aspects of HR.
Office and Outreach Manager
Natalia Tieso was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has been involved in education and English language teaching for over 15 years. She began her career as an English teacher at the kindergarten, primary and secondary school levels at both private and public schools. Natalia was then appointed IB Diploma Coordinator at All Saint’s School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Most recently, Natalia worked in the education publishing industry as the Head of the Marketing and Academic Services Department at Richmond Publishing.
Natalia graduated as a bilingual English-Spanish teacher from Escuela Normal Superior en Lenguas Vivas Sofía de Sprangenberg, a teacher training college. She holds a university degree in English from Universidad Argentina de la Empresa and a certificate in Online Marketing from Universidad Tecnológica Nacional.
Currently, Natalia is completing her thesis towards a master’s degree in Educational Management from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.
IB Educator Network Regional Manager
Linda Winch joined the IB in April 2010 to manage the IB Educator Network in the Americas.
Linda received her bachelor of arts degree in history and French with departmental honours from the University of Western Ontario, and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education from Queen’s University. She graduated with merit from Oxford Brookes University with a master's degree in educational leadership for international schools.
Linda comes to the IB with eighteen years of teaching and leadership experience in international schools in Japan, Hong Kong, the Bahamas and the United States of America. Linda has been a teacher and coordinator in both the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. She was also very active as a workshop leader, consultant and site visitor in the Americas region.
