IB graduate profile - Aisha Topsakal
Graduated from Champlain Regional College, Canada, in 1998.
"After obtaining my IB diploma from Champlain Regional College, I went on to study at the McGill Faculty of Law. The rigorous academic training of the IB program equipped me with the skills I needed to succeed as a law student. Perhaps more importantly, the CAS component left me with an appreciation of community involvement. My continued volunteer work has led to invaluable learning experiences, including positions in community legal clinics and the Montreal-based International Bureau for Children's Rights.
Following my Quebec Bar exams, I completed my articling at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome. As an intern in the legal unit of the FAO human resources division, I had an insider's look at the functioning of the UN system and became well-acquainted with the rules that govern the international civil service. When I returned to Montreal in May 2004, I was sworn in as a member of the Quebec Bar. I am now working as a Project Coordinator at Éducaloi, a non-profit organization that aims to increase access to justice by educating the public about the legal system."
