With schools as far South as Cape Town in South Africa, as far North as Tromsø in Norway, as far East as Vladivostok in Russia and as far West as in Reykjavík in Iceland, the IB Africa, Europe, Middle East region is both large and culturally very diverse. At present there are more than 720 schools in 81 countries teaching one or more of the three IB programmes.
Role
The PD Associate Manager will oversee the planning of over 500 regional workshops in the region and over 150 In-School workshops throughout each academic year and within a global quality assurance framework. Activities will also include the planning of externally provided professional development.
In the AEM region, the PD Associate Manager will report to the Regional Head of Professional Development.
Professional Development Associate Manager AEM will be responsible for:
• Acting as conduit between schools and contract/event unit to ensure efficient delivery of scheduled in-school and regional workshops
• Managing relationships and contracts with current and future PD providers (15 currently, representing 50% of professional Development offering in the region)
• Managing effective delivery of all PD activities as per Global guidelines and Global quality assurance framework (analyze results and feedback on possible improvements/action items for regional PD)
• Liaising with IBEN Manager within the annual workshop leader selection process (over 350 resources in any given academic period)
• Monitoring and enforcing global PD guidelines & liaising with IBEN & Contract/Event Managers in so doing.
• Primary contact for schools for the organization of all workshops taking place in schools (over 150 events per year)
• Liaising with Contract/Events Manager to ensure PD budget is within target
• Managing 2 staff members each working on 50% basis.
Requirements:
1. Has actively participated in project-based work, works independently
2. Proven planning/organizational skills
3. English/French, Spanish an asset
4. Excellent IT skills, incl. experience in the use of databases (particularly those used by the IB) & their analysis
5. Team spirit, flexible
6. University level or equivalent
7. Available for travel (20%)
8. Proven communication skills
9. Deep understanding of IB programmes and developments
10. Has worked within the constraints of IBAEM policies/processesor.
Location
Position will initially be based in Geneva, Switzerland and is planned to relocate to The Hague in The Netherlands in the second half of 2011.
