University recognition
New universities and govenments website
The International Baccalaureate has launched a new website for users from universities and governments. This website replaces the existing one, which was accessed through www.ibo.org. The new system is wholly integrated into IB main information service (IBIS) and it is more efficient and simpler.
To access the new website, registered users will have to migrate their access account. To that end, they will have to log in as usual or click here. Once there and after completing their registration data, they will be redirected to the IBIS User migration system where they will have to follow the on-screen instructions.
To accompany this process, the IB has prepared a User migration guide and a New secure site user's guide for universities and governments.
University recognition in Latin America
IB Latin America has finished preparing a series of documents to accompany the process for Diploma Programme recognition by universities and governments of the region. These are added to the Spanish guide to the Diploma Programme for universities and other higher education institutions —edited by IB last year— whose launch coincided with the initiative to publish IB World magazine also in Spanish.
The regional office has produced two documents. One of them complements the programme guide for universities, as it offers further details regarding Diploma Programme recognition in Latin America. The document points out that the programme is recognized by 104 institutions (93 private and 11 public) in the region. Direct admission is the widely used recognition policy, as it is offered by 79% of these universities, while 16% have chosen to recognize IB subjects.
Moreover, we considered it necessary to elaborate a document to guide Diploma Programme coordinators to communicate and look for resources available at IB to review diploma recognition policies in universities around the world.
