Become an IB examiner

Diploma Programme examiners and moderators

The IB currently has over 9,000 examiners and moderators who together assess the work of over 40,000 Diploma Programme students. Assistant examiners/moderators are appointed to mark externally assessed work or to moderate internally assessed components (reviewing the original marking of teachers). Candidates’ work is assessed against prescribed and well-defined criteria or markschemes’. The role of assistant examiner/moderator is highly valued and the IB place emphasis on the professional integrity of individuals in examining positions.

As an assistant examiner you will play an important role in maintaining the quality of assessment for which the International Baccalaureate (IB) is known worldwide. You will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the IB assessment process, receiving invaluable training from senior examiners whilst enhancing your professional development.

Assistant examiner recruitment is an ongoing process and applications are welcome throughout the year for all Diploma Programme subjects. More information on this role, current vacancies and an application form can be found via the links below.
