Film examiners
The Diploma Programme film course aims to develop students’ skills so that they become adept in both interpreting and making film texts.
The IB film course emphasizes the importance of working individually and as a member of a group. Students are encouraged to develop the professional and technical skills (including organizational skills) needed to express themselves creatively in film.
Students must complete three assessment tasks as part of the course.
The externally assessed independent study requires students to produce a rationale, script and an annotated list of sources for a documentary production.
The externally assessed presentation requires a detailed textual analysis of an extract from a prescribed film.
The internally assessed production portfolio requires students to produce a completed short film project (with the addition of a trailer for Higher Level students) as well as a rationale and a written commentary.
