Level 2 DP Workshop in Vancouver, BC (IB Americas)

Level 2:  Experienced IB teachers workshop is a three-day workshop for teachers who have completed Level 1 training and / or who teach in schools that have begun to implement an IB programme.

Please note that all IB Americas workshops taking place in Canada are subject to a mandatory 5% GST (goods and services tax).  Please see additional information on registration form.

Participants are required to bring the following to the workshop (either download to their laptops or bring a hard copy):

• copy of Teacher Support Materials (TSM)
• copy of Subject guide (in target language)

Location and Accommodation

The workshop will take place at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel.  IB Americas has arranged for special room rates for the workshop.   When you make your hotel reservation, please indicate you are with IB Americas to receive the special rate.  Rates are quoted in Canadian dollars and are exclusive of all taxes. 

**Please note: Checks must be received by the hotel at least 14 days prior to their date of arrival and must include room and tax for the total amount of hotel stay.

Workshop Schedule Outline

Workshop check-in for participants will start at 3.00pm on Friday, 11 December 2009. The level 1 workshop begins with a general session on Friday, 11 December at 5.00pm and concludes on Monday, 14 December at 12.00pm.  The level 2 and 3 workshop begins on Saturday, 12 December at 8.30am and concludes on Monday, 14 December at 12.00pm. IB Americas will provide a continental breakfast, a beverage break, and a boxed lunch on Saturday, 12 December 2009 and Sunday, 13 December 2009.  IB Americas will provide a continental breakfast and a beverage break on Monday, 14 September 2009.  Please be aware that dinner is not included in the conference registration fee and will not be provided on any of the workshop dates.

International Travel

All non-citizens must present proof of citizenship to enter the United States or Canada.  An acceptable form of identification is a valid passport.

Ground Transportation 

The hotel is located approximately 20 minutes from Vancouver International Airport (YVR).  Airporter offers shared van shuttle service and the fare is approximately CDN $13.50 one-way or CDN $21.00 round trip. For reservations, please call (800) 668-3141.  Taxicabs are also available and the fare is approximately CDN $45.00.  Rates subject to change.

Parking

The hotel offers self parking for approximately CDN $26.00 per car, per day exclusive of taxes with in and out privileges. Valet parking is also offered for approximately CDN $29.00 per car, per day inclusive of taxes with in and out privileges.  Rates subject to change.

Miscellaneous

Please remember that meeting room temperatures and personal comfort zones vary widely. It is recommended that you bring a sweater or jacket to all sessions.
