Category 3 NEW Workshops

Transdisciplinary Teaching in the PYP

This workshop will look at what transdisciplinary teaching is.  Participants will examine the term transdisciplinary and look at their current practice to determine how transdisciplinary they currently are.  It will provide them with an opportunity to look at structures within the school that promote transdisciplinary teaching and give them a chance to review their programme of inquiry and central ideas to determine how transdisciplinary these are.

ICT in the PYP

Information and Communication Technology is a vital resource that PYP schools use to help students and staff develop the IB Learner Profile, apply the understandings, knowledge, skills, and attitudes of the PYP curriculum, become life-long learners  and take positive action as members of our information and technology-driven global society.  This workshop aims to develop a deep understanding of how ICT can be used to transform teaching and learning practices through integration within the entire PYP curriculum, rather than as a stand-alone subject area. This workshop also aims to be the first truly paperless, face-to-face workshop offered through the IB that engages all participants in active use of Internet/electronic resources to support teaching and learning over the course of the entire workshop.

Concept Driven Curriculum in the PYP

his workshop will look at the role of concepts in the PYP.  It will look at what concepts are and how concepts can be embedded in the curriculum.  It will provide participants with an opportunity to examine their programme of inquiry to look at central ideas and their connection to the concepts and to look for vertical and horizontal coverage of concepts.  We will examine the role of related concepts and look at how concepts can be taught in all areas of the curriculum and how they can be used to make connections to units of inquiry.
