About the Africa, Europe, Middle East region
With schools as far South as Cape Town in South Africa, as far North as Tromsø in Norway, as far East as Vladivostok in Russia and as far West as in Reykjavík in Iceland, the IB Africa, Europe, Middle East region is both large and culturally very diverse. At present there are 773 schools in 81 countries teaching one or more of the three IB programmes. All three IB official languages—English, French and Spanish—are represented among the IB World Schools in our region but we support schools working in many more. The growth rate has been around 15% in each of the last five years.
School services department within the regional office deals with all services associated with authorization and programme evaluation of new and existing schools for the three programmes across this vast region.

About the role
Under the direction of the Head of School Services, the PYP school services manager plays a strategic role in the implementation and development of the programme in the region by identifying opportunities for growth, anticipating implementation challenges and risks. In order to achieve the projected 2020 growth, this position will require an ongoing expansion and increase of outsourced activities, ensuring continuous training and development of IB educators, high service satisfaction from schools and compliance with programme requirements, through the implementation of globally developed policies for authorization and evaluation of schools.
This position will have a close working relationship with MYP and DP programme managers and school services operations team.
The regional office is engaged in organizational and operational developments in line with the IB’s 2020 vision. This role is seen as an important component of that change and key in ensuring a smooth transition when the office relocates to The Hague.

Education, Experience & Languages:
• A tertiary qualification
• Five years teaching experience, including experience in international education
• Four years experience as a PYP teacher and/or coordinator and familiarity with PYP school authorization and evaluation processes
• Knowledge of Africa, Europe and Middle East region, its schools and educational systems
• English proficiency is essential
• French and/or Spanish would be a distinct advantage.

Location

Position will initially be based in Geneva, Switzerland and is planned to relocate to The Hague in The Netherlands in the second half of 2011.
