Head of Global Professional Development - Middle Years Programme Ref 420A

Then International Baccalaureate (IB) is committed to supporting the ongoing development of a worldwide professional learning community comprising internationally minded teachers, school leaders and administrators.  To that end the regions conduct comprehensive annual programmes of workshops and conferences designed to help teachers and schools to better understand and deliver the three IB programmes.  Through the provision of a wide variety of resources and development opportunities IB educators are challenged to constantly reflect upon and improve their practice.

Professional development plays a key role in the organization’s mission. It is driven by the need to provide direction and tools necessary for the delivery of the MYP the respective customer facing hubs to schools and teachers.  It entails the development, piloting, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, programmes and resources targeted at improving the quality of administering, coordinating, teaching and delivering the IB MYP.

The Head of Global PD – MYP will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with external partnerships in order to improve the ability of the IB to to provide a range of professional learning opportunities through workshop resources specifically in the MYP
  • Taking a leading role in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of policies, processes and global strategy for MYP workshop architecture
  • Managing the content and further development of the MYP section of the Workshop Leader Resource Centre in order to provide high quality resources for workshops
  • Collaborating with Online Professional Learning Services in developing new materials for online and blended workshops in order to increase and diversify the number of online workshops
  • Preparing budgets, forecasting and managing income and expenditure to achieve financial goals within the IB’s annual operating cycle to ensure best value and compliance with financial guidelines for the Professional Development team

Requirements:

  • Post graduate qualifications in education and/or a combination of experience, education and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the position
  • Proven track record with the MYP or equivalent programme outside of the IB
  • A demonstrable interest in international education and familiarity with the issues involved
  • Knowledge of online educational resources and e-learning environmental systems
  • Demonstrable experience in strategic planning and capacity planning
  • Experience with business analysis and business planning procedures
  • A demonstrable track record at management level working in educational administration, business or professional development systems.
  • Demonstrable experience, knowledge and understanding of strategic planning and capacity planning
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable experience of working in professional development within the education sector
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups
  • Effective communication skills with a diversity of groups and individuals
  • Ability to initiate and manage change in order to achieve outcomes
  • A willingness to take the initiative and champion innovation
  • Exemplary skills at supervising, analyzing, and evaluating multiple and complex tasks
