Global Financial Controller Ref 610s

The global financial controller is responsible for the IB’s financial data and transaction processing functions and drives financial controls throughout the organization to ensure the organization’s position is robust. This role will define and control the financial stewardship of the organization on a global basis. The post holder will play a key role in the restructuring and re-engineering of the finance functions.
The role directly manages a geographically dispersed team of around 40 people and impacts the majority of IB colleagues worldwide through expenses, reporting and financial control. The post holder will work in partnership with treasury manager, global head of financial, planning and analysis, and the regional finance managers. Externally, the role works with 2,500 schools (growing at 10-15% per year) in the collection of debt and 4,000 examiners (growing at 10-15% per year) in the payment of expense claims.
The post holder will need to work effectively with people from a wide variety of cultures. Extensive international travel will be required.
Requirements:
- A good accounting degree and completed professional finance qualifications.
- Extensive experience in a technical accounting role (controlling, tax or treasury) part of which should be in international roles and in financial control.
- Hands-on experience using sizable financial accounting systems. Oracle is preferred.
- Proven ability to integrate technical/legal pronouncements into organizational processes and procedures.
- Ability to lead decision making with external advisors
- Ability to create and maintain value added relationships with the audit and finance committees
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with proven experience in delivering effective presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work across different cultures
