Virtual Community Moderation Coordinator Ref 766s

The IB virtual community is an online, private IB learning community and will be launched in August 2010. It will offer IB stakeholders (students, alumni, educators and IBEN members) the ability to connect, communicate and collaborate with one another in the three official IB languages (English, French and Spanish). Tools within the IB virtual community will include blogs, wikis, discussion forums, file uploading (documents, images, audio and video), individual profiles, the ability to form groups and other social networking functionality. 

In order to provide a high quality platform that supports collaboration in accordance with the standards of communication maintained by the IB, the IB virtual community will need to be closely moderated by the Moderation Coordinator and their team of moderation volunteers.

The job will involve coordination and management of a group of key volunteers acting as moderation council, a process that will need constant assessment and evaluation due to the prospected growth of the platform. The job holder will work closely with the Virtual Community Manager and the IBID helpdesk. S/he will also oversee the account creation process as well as the support of users of the IB virtual community in all different roles. Additionally, s/he will oversee the ongoing creation and maintenance of acceptable use, terms and conditions, and privacy and protection policies, user documents, and user programming.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in a discipline relevant to the post
  • Ability to work at a high level in English and French and/or Spanish
  • Experience related to social networking and intercultural online community participation, with the ability to coordinate a number of high-level volunteers
  • Excellent customer service ethic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Ability to work effectively with team members globally
