Professional development September update
Autumn Conference for Educational Leadership in Marrakesh
The PD session at the regional conference will provide an overview of programme growth and the opportunities this presents with our professional development offerings. Results of IBAEM evaluations on 2008 Summer workshops will be made available, detailed and first conclusions drawn. The regional 2009 Calendar will be presented, giving participants firsthand information on workshops running from Jan. 09 to September 09. Participants will have the opportunity to give their input and ideas for future workshops.
The session will be lead by Anthony Tait, PD Head and Victoria Pierlot, IBAEM PD Manager.

For this reason, we are particularly committed to offering professional development in all 3 languages in our regional workshops. What’s new in the 2009 Calendar?
The overall professional development offering for 2009 in the IBAEM region has increased by about 10%.
Diploma Programme
DP workshops for teachers new to the programme in February 2009.
In response to an increase in demand, we are pleased to offer more workshops for teachers new to the DP programme – participants will now be able to choose from our traditional Summer workshops in July and the new offering in February.
Summer workshops will be on offer in 2-3 different locations to reduce participant numbers in each location thereby ensuring optimum learning conditions.
New Guides in geography, psychology, and music will be presented at the end of the month of March in our workshop for experienced teachers of the DP programme.
Inclusion of 3rd party training providers in our calendar/offering.
Middle Years Programme
The MYP introductory workshop, designed for heads and directors new to the Middle Years Programme from interested schools, have now been changed to last 3 days instead of 2.Thereby allowing participants to better understand the philosophical principles of the MYP and its implementation.
Primary Years Programme
We are steadily increasing the number of In-cooperation workshops. These are open to all schools for participation, although organised by partner schools. Please refer to our website calendar for these offerings.
