The IB Diploma is recognised as equivalent to Kenyan National Advanced Level Examinations by the University of Nairobi. A small number of Kenyan students who have taken the IB Diploma outside Kenya have entered the
University of Nairobi on this basis.
The Kenya Certificate of Education used by Kenya's universities as the minimum entry qualification is significantly higher than the GCE 'O' levels. Kenya has now five public universities and four chartered private universities.
